Dr Zhigang Chen is currently an associate professor in Energy Materials at the Centre for Future Materials, the University of Southern Queensland. Dr Chen focuses on research in biomimetic fabrication of inorganic and hybrid thermoelectric nanomaterials for energy generation and saving; optoelectronic device and functional system for next generation optoelectronics based on inorganic nanostructures; design and fabrication of chemical and biological nanosensor device based on inorganic nanostructures. As a Chief Investigator, Dr Chen has succeeded in winning 3 ARC DP grants, 1 ARC Linkage grant, 1 ARC LIEF grant, 2 Queensland smart future funds, 1 international linkage grant from the Australian Academy of Sciences and 8 USQ/UQ grants. Dr Chen has contributed more than 165 original journal publications (including top ranking journals such as Nature Nano., Adv. Mater., J. Am Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem., etc.), 4 patents and over 20 presentations, which have been cited > 8200 times (ISI web) with H index of 45.
